Real Estate Agent

Patricia began her career in Washington D.C. as a sales agent in the Bethesda, Chevy Chase and Upper Northwest DC markets. During that time, she also renovated 12 houses and began studying commercial real estate and appraising. She earned the prestigious MAI designation (Member of Appraisal Institute) designation in 1992 and developed specialties in tax appeal, eminent domain and valuing properties with historic significance, including embassies, hotels, downtown office buildings, U.S. Federal Courthouse buildings and special purpose buildings. She has provided appraisal review services and expert witness testimony in eminent domain court cases.

Patricia and her husband, Tom, moved to Orange in 1996 and opened her appraisal business, Piedmont Appraisal Company. She carried her experience forward in Central Virginia beginning with eminent domain valuations for VDOT and Civil War Battlegrounds for the U.S. Department of Interior. Patricia has appraised hundreds of conservation easements throughout Virginia and has given expert witness testimony in court cases involving issues associated with easements. She hopes to use her experience to provide brokerage services to the farm and estate community with an emphasis on conservation easements.
Patricia is also a longstanding member of the Dolley Madison Garden Club and an avid floral designer. She competes in state and national flower shows and is an accredited artistic judge for the Garden Club of Virginia.
