Billionaire Dan Snyder Offering DC-Area Home for $49M

Billionaire Dan Snyder Offering DC-Area Home for $49M

Published: February 24, 2023 | By: American Luxury Staff

The East Coast mansion of NFL team owner Dan Snyder is up for sale to a buyer with $49 million. Snyder had quietly shopped the extravagant three-story riverside Chateau — which was formerly haunted by Jordanian royalty — around the stratosphere before listing it on the open market this month.

The property is enormous, occupying 9.65 acres in Potomac, Maryland, and offering 30,000 sq. ft. of interiors. A gated drive is the preamble; lush in season but tightly groomed, it winds in leisurely fashion to an enclosed motor court.

The main house dates to 2004, and is designed firmly in the French country estate style, with a stone exterior, slate mansard roof, dormers, and casement windows. The interiors begin with a bang: a foyer with a large double-sided limestone fireplace, inlaid marble floor, staircase, and upper-level balconies. Ornate double doors with center pulls open to the great room, a soaring space with more balconies, parquet floor, and an attached glassed-in porch overlooking the countryside.

The master bedroom offers similarly astonishing views through an arcing wall of oversized windows and a glass door for accessing an outdoor balcony overlooking the river. A library, lounge with long hardwood bar, gym, and media room are listed among the specialties. The property at large includes a guest house, guard house, and caretaker’s house, as well as a pool. Fifteen acres’ worth of protected land abuts the property.

Snyder’s net worth is around $5 billion, per Forbes.

Jim Carrey’s Longtime L.A. Compound Available for $28.9M

Jim Carrey’s Longtime L.A. Compound Available for $28.9M

Published: February 16, 2023 | By: American Luxury Staff

The Los Angeles compound that has been home to comic actor and writer Jim Carrey for decades popped up on the city’s real estate radar recently. Carrey has owned the 2-acre estate in Brentwood for about thirty years; he listed it in the first week of the month with a $28.9 million asking price.

The property’s centerpiece is a ranch house that originally went up in 1951. One would imagine that additions have been many, because it breaks into a second level on occasion, coils back on itself in a U-shape to nearly create an entirely sheltered courtyard, and constitutes one whopping great footprint. A detached guest house at a judicious remove brings the accommodations total to five bedrooms and eight baths across 12,704 sq. ft. of interiors.

Amenities include a fireplace master bedroom, a delightfully woody master bath with a fireplace and parquet floor, a theater and entertainment space with a deco-inspired wet bar, an office, and a solarium dayroom. Materials and architectural details include midcentury-style vaulted skylight ceilings, fireplaces a-plenty, and hardwood and polished brick floors.

A red brick walk and privacy wall inset with double doors provides the preamble to the property; beyond it the estate opens up majestically and unfurls across a romantic garden of lawns, mature trees, and tropical and Asian landscaping, with patios, a forested walkway, a tennis court, a stone-bordered swimming pool with a waterfall, a gazebo purposed as an outdoor billiards room, and a secluded covered sleeping platform appearing by turn.
