3 ways to spend New Years in Charlottesville, Virginia

2019 is coming to a close and that means you have just a few more days to enjoy the end of this decade. Here’s a quick list of a few of the best happenings around Charlottesville on December 30th and 31st as we head into the New Year.

1. Watch UVA in the Orange Bowl!

On December 30th, The ACC and SEC collide when the No. 24 Virginia Cavaliers take on the No. 9 Florida Gators in the 2019 Orange Bowl on Monday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami at 8:00pm ET.

Random Row Brewing Co is one of many bars / breweries hosting a watch party and they’ll be discounting some of their pints. Go Hoos!

2. Festival of the Arts in Downtown

Head downtown with friends and family and soak in the local music and arts scene on New Years Eve.

“First Night Virginia is an annual “community celebration of the arts” that began in Charlottesville in 1982. 2020 will be the 38th annual festival of the arts with many family-friendly activities on and around the historic Downtown Mall.”

3. Hit the Dance Floor at Common House!

If you’re ready to dance, many of the bars and clubs will be hosting parties on NYE.

Chamomile and Whiskey, Zocalo and Oakhart Social will all be hosting New Year’s Parties to end the decade!

One of our favorite spots, Common House, will also be hosting a NYE Bash.

“Chime in 2020 at Common House’s third annual soireé. Hit the dance floor with jazzy tunes by the Jack Sheehan Trio from 8-10pm, followed by DJ JT’s set until late o’clock.”
