Welcome to the team, Eric!

We are excited to welcome Eric Rogan, a third generation native of Albemarle County, to the Frank Hardy team!

Having spent his formative years living in Free Union and later in the Rugby Avenue neighborhood in Charlottesville, Eric was able to enjoy all that the area had to offer.

From dirt biking and canoeing in the scenic countryside to walking on the downtown mall or across the UVA campus, Eric’s experiences as a youth created a deep connection to the area.

After attending St. Anne’s Belfield, Eric graduated from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY in 2002. In 2005, Eric designed and built his home in Free Union, sparking interests in carpentry, stonemasonry and property management. Eric spent the majority of the next decade as a freelance carpenter before starting Rogan Custom Contracting, LLC in 2014. Since, Rogan Custom Contracting has been performing projects of all scales including new home construction, additions, remodels, site development, and subdividing properties. Additionally, working in construction has led to a network of reliable professionals including property surveyors, structural engineers, suppliers and contractors.

These experiences have prepared Eric for a career in real estate as he is uniquely qualified to make comprehensive home and property evaluations. With Eric at your service, buyers and sellers can be comfortable knowing that they have a knowledgeable, trustworthy agent to facilitate their goals. In his free time, Eric is likely to be working on his properties, biking or hiking with his wife and boys, attending UVA sports, or pursuing his ongoing love of golf.

Inside Jimmy Fallon’s Unique Gramercy Park Home

In the late 1800s Manhattan, the concept of cooperative living—multiple families sharing one building—was a novelty, yet a group of developers who hit on the idea determined to move forward with it. They hired New Jersey–based architect George W. DaCunha to design an arresting Queen Anne–style building overlooking Gramercy Park, whose gates have, since 1844, been openable only by neighborhood residents in possession of a key. His ornate affair, completed in 1883, was a masterwork of redbrick, with terra cotta, brownstone, polished granite, and carved foliate accents; a mansard roof; and three of the city’s first hydraulic elevators.

In its early days, the building was home to some of New York’s socially prominent families, and by the time of its 75th anniversary, had beckoned to such Hollywood icons as James Cagney and Margaret Hamilton. Ultimately, the building and its concept would survive early skeptics, going on to be known as a distinguished paradigm of the cooperative model. No expense has been spared in the meticulous maintenance of the building over its nearly 140-year lifespan. To this day the foyer retains elements of 19th-century charm—such as stained glass, mahogany woodwork, and leaded- and beveled-glass doors—although the original elevators have been replaced.

New York, New York | Jeremy V. Stein & Debbie Korb, Sotheby’s International Realty – Downtown Manhattan Brokerage

Add to the list of luminary residents comedian, actor, singer, writer, and “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon, who began purchasing space in the building in the early 2000s and over the ensuing years—alongside producer Nancy Juvonen, his wife—combined four apartments on three levels into one home of impressively generous scale and delightfully whimsical and vibrant style. Throughout its 4,950 square feet—a rarity on Gramercy Park outside townhouse living—vintage elements have been painstakingly maintained and restored, perfectly harmonizing with superior fixtures and finishes, contemporary comforts and conveniences, and state-of-art smart technology, from lighting to audiovisual systems.

Occupying the seventh, eighth, and ninth floors of the building’s southwest corner, the home is appointed to the hilt with antiques and imaginative finds from around the world. In the colorful living room, 1940s wallpaper and Brooklyn Navy Yard woodwork endure alongside such modern amenities as an in-ceiling projector. In addition to an oversized island with plentiful storage and sitting space, custom cabinetry with E.R. Butler & Co. hardware, and top-caliber appliances, the cheerful kitchen features a gas fireplace with its original mantel and a walk-in soundproofed pantry.

A classical staircase unites the public spaces with the private quarters—six restful and uniquely appointed bedrooms. Perched at the top is the owner’s suite, a skylit oasis boasting a gas fireplace, a wet bar, a sitting area, a bath with a separate steamshower and soaking tub, and two well-outfitted walk-in closets. An intercom allows for easy communication between the home’s two enchanting and thoughtfully equipped playrooms.

On the eighth floor is the one-of-a-kind “saloon,” anchored by an antique bar that pays homage to the building’s provenance with its inlaid stained glass and intricate wood detailing. Striking ceiling beams and a dramatic stone fireplace contribute to a feeling of Old West warmth. Other highlights include a quiet office, a gym, and two convenient laundry rooms. Naturally, as has been the case since the earliest days of this innovative residential building, ownership conveys a coveted key to the park.

Bette Davis’ French Normandy-Style Home in Laguna Beach Listed by SIR for $20M

Listed with Sotheby’s International Realty

The dramatic, promontory-location home in Laguna Beach owned at one time by Hollywood legend Bette Davis surfaced on the open market this spring with an asking price of $19.995 million.

The French Normandy-style house, which was completed in 1929, is a registered historic place. From the tile of the entry landing, many of the details of the home appear to be original, or sensitive period-style choices. Highlights include leaded glass French casement windows, unfinished ceiling timber — in the dining room, the raw look gives a heavy coffered job a touch of rusticity — and a couple of fireplaces voiced in keeping with the French country style.

The master terrace, accessible through sliding glass doors, looks out imperiously over its domain; the room is smallish, but luxurious in its space by way of its steeply pitched cathedral ceiling and plentiful glass taking in vistas of the Pacific. The other bedrooms are as pleasingly individual, as are their companion baths; one boasts a step-in shower, another has a framed tub.

Sporting a black-and-white checkered border for its tile floor, the cottagey kitchen is a positive gem; modestly sized and tastefully designed, one gets the feeling Julia Child would have been happy cooking here. A media room, gym, and detached guest house are the primary amenities, along with a courtyard and a private staircase to the beach.

Davis’s career spanned more than 50 years. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress twice.

Pete Davidson Picks Up Bachelor Pad in New York for $1.2M

Pete Davidson Picks Up Bachelor Pad in New York for $1.2M

SNL cast member Pete Davidson is the new owner of this condo on Staten Island. The 1,592 sq. ft. unit is located in a waterfront mid-rise. Davidson paid $1.2 million for it, according to public records.

The residence contains two bedrooms and two and one-half baths. Highlights of its interiors include plank oak floors, a waterfall kitchen island with a quartz top, and a pleasingly broad variety of tones that balances neutrals with more expressive cool and warm colors. The master features a bath with a spa tub.

The little terrace is where Davidson will likely be spending much of his time in the next few months, of course; it offers fine bay and city views, and can be accessed from the master bedroom.

The building’s amenities list includes a lounge, a fitness center, grilling stations, and a children’s playground.

Davidson co-wrote and starred in the 2020 feature film standout The King of Staten Island. His upcoming projects include The Suicide Squad, which also stars Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Sylvester Stallone, and Viola Davis.

Listed with Anthony Volpe of Laird Klein Sotheby’s International Realty.

Tom Green Makes Quick Work of $2.3M Hollywood Hills Perch

Actor Tom Green is selling his secluded Hollywood Hills home for $2.3 million. The two-bedroom, two-bath, buttress-supported house appeared on the open market just a few days ago; it features a courtyard pool area, and a balcony and glass-walled open-concept living area overlooking dramatic city views.

The 1952-built single-level home’s interiors measure in at 2,195 sq. ft. It boasts a shed ceiling which, together with the blazing white paint, lend the shared living space a clean, midcentury look. A corner fireplace with a raised hearth, a bank of diamond-shaped built-in shelves, and skylights also distinguish the common area. The home boasts a galley kitchen—always a cozy touch, and in this case enhanced with honey-toned cabinetry with frosted glass panels.

The outside living area’s a gem, and accessible from large sliding glass doors in the master and many of the living spaces. It’s designed around a deck with a covered fire pit, and a slate-floored semi-courtyard with an angular pool that’s nicely defined, in part, by a retaining wall. A recreation room in the home is essentially a guest suite, with a second kitchen and a shower in its layout.

Tom Cruise Lists 320-Acre Colorado Retreat for $39.5M

Tom Cruise Lists 320-Acre Colorado Retreat for $39.5M

The alpine estate of actor Tom Cruise is back on the market this month. The property last appeared in 2014, when it was priced at $59 million. At $39 million, the Colorado retreat may well find a buyer quickly.

The property occupies a 320-acre niche in Telluride. According to the Wall Street Journal, the luxury real estate market in the Rocky Mountain resort city is booming a new gold rush, with city-dweller transplants moving into town en masse.

The 2014 listing photos showed the property to great effect—it hit the market in October, and autumn in Telluride, with its surfeit of splendid scenery, was a painterly backdrop for the luxuriously expansive and versatile estate. But the property went off the market without seeing sale or price cut. A listing agent quoted by the Wall Street Journal opined that Cruise wasn’t quite ready to part ways with it, so he may’ve been testing the waters.

Coming in at a mile in length, the driveway presages the scale of the estate. The remoteness of the spot is magnified by the federally owned lands that surround it, and all in all this is a getaway property for the active sort, with miles of hiking trails.

The main house on the property was custom built for Cruise. It measures about 10,000 sq. ft., and features plentiful stone and cedar in its build. The main living area is anchored by a majestic stone fireplace, one of many in the home. A three-bedroom guest house completes a first look at an extraordinary opportunity in Telluride.

Cruise’s films have grossed over $10 billion worldwide. His upcoming projects include Top Gun: Maverick, due out in July, and Mission: Impossible 7, scheduled for release in November.

Listed with Eric Lavey & Dan Dockray of LIV Sotheby’s International Realty.
