A trip to wine country in Virginia is something special. Although this year may be a bit different, we are still very excited to pay a visit to one of our favorites, King Family Vineyards. Located in Crozet, VA, this vineyard is certainly one of the best around. There are a plethora of things to do on your visit with regular activities including wine tastings and tours, food trucks, and polo matches!
King Family Vineyards was established in “late 1998, after a young man named Tom Vandenberg, knocked on our door and asked if he could lease ten acres for a vineyard. Sparked by his curiosity and research, we did our homework, and soon hired a vineyard consultant. A nursery in California had a few extra vines, so six months of hard work later, our first eight acres of vines had been planted.” As a family business they pride themselves in opening the farm to events, much like inviting family into your home.” Whether it is to celebrate a milestone or a marriage, their hope is to provide a warm, inviting venue to enjoy with family and friends.

Let’s not forget that they also have Polo Matches on Sundays! A very unique experience for any visitor to the winery; gates open at 10:00 am, matches are free, open to the public, and begin at 12:00 pm.
On polo season Sundays, Tasting Room visitors are invited to come out and enjoy field side to watch polo.
Note, they suggest you visit their Polo page, or Facebook Page on Sunday mornings between Memorial Day Weekend, and mid-October after 9:00 am to confirm that they will be playing or call (434) 823-7800.
As with any winery there are several tasting options available. For starters, there is the Classic Tasting where you can enjoy a tasting of five of their seasonally selected wines. Second, there is the Reserved Tasting, which is a more exclusive experience including a unique, guided tasting with a knowledgeable member of their team. And last but not least there is the Library Tasting for those seeking the full VIP experience which allow you to take a guided tasting behind the glass walls of their climate controlled Wine Library with a knowledgeable member of our team.
