Anya discovered Albemarle county in 1988 while attending the College of William and Mary and making frequent trips to Charlottesville. After working in advertising and marketing in D.C. and Atlanta, Anya began to invest in residential real estate in Virginia and North Carolina and her enthusiasm for the enterprise has not waned over the next decade.

A native of Moscow and raised in New York City, Anya is married to writer Stefan Bechtel and is mother to a daughter in middle school and a son in pre-school. With her family she has been involved in a multitude of cultural and athletic organizations that make Charlottesville a wonderful and unique community, including Heritage Theater Festival, Live Arts and Four County Players theaters, Virginia Consort, Soccer Organization of Charlottesville and Albemarle, Charlottesville Waldorf School, Tandem Friends School and other local schools.
